Bhandari family which hailed from Bisalpur, near Jodhpur,Rajasthan migrated to Raichur about 200 years ago. Sri.Rajmal Bhandari made Raichur as his Karma Bhoomi at that time, which was under the rule of Nizam of Hyderabad. He has started cloth and finance business in the name of “Rajmal Khemraj Bhandari”. Later his son Khemraj joined the business but unfortunately at an early age father and son expired. At that time his sons Sri.Mukunchand and Sri.Kushalraj were just 7 and 2 years old respectively. All the relatives and well-wishers advised to Smt.Krishna Bai; wife of Khemraj Bhandari to close the business as the children were minor. But Smt.Krishna Bai insisted courageously that the business would be continued. On her request, both children have grown up under the care of her brother Sri.Chandmal Sancheti who also looked after business. It reflects that the business blood in their genes.
To expedite social activities, Bhandari family more or less a century ago they had started “Aravatage” in the Agriculture village at the Amberal Village near Arashanagi in Raichur District. There was a huge water scaricity in 10 kms surrounding area. They have provided water facilities along with “Alpahar”Srishailam piligramaes were also provided and this service is still continued.
As days have passed; both brothers grown up with high traditional values. Chandmalji requested his sister to relieve him from his reposnisbilities as both her sons were quite capable to run the business effectively.
As years passed, they switched over to Cotton Trading and allied industries in association with Sri.Kishenlalji Bhandari under the name of Sha Rajmal Kushalraj Bhandari.
The business were grown up many folds and having branches in Maharastra, Tamilnadu, Gujrat and Andhra Pradesh.
In 1956, both the brothers became the founder Trustees S.S.Jain Education Society, Raichur. Sri.Mukan Chand Bhandari served as Treasurer of Jain samaj Raichur for his full life. He was firm believer of Gupt Danam. Due to Philapnthrapist activities he was also known as Daanveer Saith.
In 1968, Mukan Chand Bhandari and Kushal raj Bhandari registered the Public Charitable Trust under the name of Bhandari Charitable Trust, Raichur and they have nominated Sri.Sowbhagaj Bhandari as a Trustee.
Their objective of the Trust to establish Educational/Medical Institutions and to help the needy by providing text books and paying school fees and fix donations to the widhows.
Meanwhile, Sowbhagraj Bhandari and Vijayraj Bhandari entered into family business after completing their graduation.
They established a Company called R.K.B.Agro Industries limited, Raichur.
In 1974, late Smt.Vanita Bai had a paralytic attack and was taken to Hyderabad for treatment. She was partially recovered and brought back to Raichur.
However, every fortnight, they used to take her to Hyderabad for health check up.
One day, while taking her to Hyderabad the car broke down between Mehboobnagar and Jatcharla. It was thick forest and heavily raining. At that point of time Smt.Vanitabai expressed her desire to establish a full fledge hospital in Raichur.
To fullfill the dream of Smt.Vanita Bai, the Charitable Trust was established under the name of Rajmal Khemraj Bhandari foundation in 1990.
First venture M.K.Bhandari Hospital was established. The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Sri.1008 Yuvacharya Pujya Dr.SHIVAMUNI MAHARAJ, MA PHD, by Sri.Hiralalji Dhoka, Yadgir(Maternal Grand father) in presence of then Deputy Commissioner, Smt.K.Ratnaprabha who is recently retired as a Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka on Wednesday 1st August 1990. The hospital was inaugurated with Blessings of VIDYAVACHASPATI SHREE BANNANJA GOVINDACHARYA UDUPI, KARANTAKA by Sri.Padmashree, Sri.Dr.Pratap Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Group of Hospital, Hyderabad on 24.02.1994 with 20 bed capacity. (Picture 2)
With all the essential diagnostic facilities at affordable costs. Later it was expanded to 100 beds.
Multiflorious Social Activities of R.K.B.Foundation.
1. The Cleft lip and palate surgery : - In association of Smile Train India.(Change the world, one smile at a time”). Under this scheme, Bhandari hospital has performed more than ten thousand surgeries free of cost without considering cast, creed, sex and religion. The Smile Train organisation is a charitable instituin based at USA and their office is situated at Delhi. On the 6th march 2018, the Cusp of 2 decade of commoration of 5 lakhs transforming surgeries all over India for which they have been felicited by Smile Train organisation with appreciation certificate as we are part of their journey.
